I started yesterday too. Success, just soup and fruit all day. I did have half a cup of coffee. Do anyone know if that is allowed? I think today will be tougher, but I am ready for the challenge!

Hi Aple, keep up the good work. It's best not to have coffee especially if you put sugar in it and cream. Try to follow the diet exactly how it says, but if you must have coffee thats ok, you just might not lose that 1 or 2 lbs that you would lose if you don't go with the coffee, thats how I think anyway.

Hello-
Today is my 2nd day on the diet. Yesterday I had soup for lunch and dinner and fruit throughout the day. I had a it of a headache, but overall I was okay.
My big concern this morning was what to have for breakfast today since we are not allowed fruit. I am eating tomotoes and carrots right now, but if anyone has any other breakfast suggestions that would be great.
Can't wait for the baked potato tonight.

jjface, breakfast can be a challenge on veggie day, I have been known to make a stir fry and even to eat half my baked potato. There is no rule that says you have to wait until dinner to eat that big beautiful thing LOL

Hi Aple....coffee is fine.. I believe it is a diretic and will help you lose water weight...of course...it has to be black. Nowhere have I seen it mentioned that black coffee was a no no.
Hi jjface...breakfasts are far from typical on this kind of diet...I also ate just tomatoes on day 2. Days that you can have fruit are a breeze for breakfast as you can make a fruit salad which satisfies.
That's why this diet would not be a diet to stay on long term...like if you have to lose 50...60...70 pounds...one just couldn't stick with it for that long a time. When one does it for a week here and there...you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and that's what keeps you going...............I would say that if you would want to stay on this kind of eating...you would have to add a cup of milk daily... and maybe a cup of cottage cheese to the regime on days where meat or protein of some sort was not eaten. Calcium is importan and long term lack of it ..I would say... is not good.
Offline

P.S....not only is calcium important..but protein is also is as well..and a long term lack of either ...I would say...is not good. That's why you would have to modify this diet for any long term use of it. I take calcium pills daily and have been for many years, also a mullti vitamin....so it's not such a concern for me...but I would still modify it with the milk and cottage cheese...maybe even low fat choices of them....as some fat is necessary in the daily diet as well. There are no protein "pills" that I am aware of...so a source like (cottage cheese?) would be a way...I'm don't mean to be telling anybody what to do...this is just my opinion......

gtbehnke, for late night munchies I will eat a crunchy dill pickle or two that helps me. and on fruit days well just cutting up and apple into bitsized pieces usually does the trick. For me I just need to have something in my hand
cbshic-- I too do a more modified version of csd. and it is more sb too. breakfast is egg beaters (2 serv) with a handful of onion & green pepper, snack is usually celery or some deli sliced turkey, lunch is csd soup, snack again then dinner usually a stir fry and sometimes a bit of meat, then snack in the eve which is low cal, like the pickles etc.
My goal was to lose down to 140 by thanksgiving but now I will take 150 LOL I would have to lose almost 3 pounds a week and I really don't lose that fast. I also reward myself on the weekneds with some pizza and a few glasses of wine.
So far my weight is comming off slow and I have had a few plateaus but that is ok

I started on 9-24 too. This is the first time I have tried this diet. I am not feeling hungry really but I have had a headache all day. I wonder if diet soda is acceptable because unsweetened tea is not doing it for me. Does anyone know?
Offline
ylime, the headache is normal many first timers get it. It will go away. Diet soda is a big no-no so if you really need to sweeten your tea try some artificial sweetner or better yet drink water with a little lemon juice in it.

thanks Nancy! I love pickles. I gained 20lbs pretty fast due to stress/loss of job. Now I am employed but depressed because of the weight I put on! Hhmm... its not good for you when you dont feel good about yourself-no matter what weight people think you should be. Going to Miami Nov. 15th looking forward to a bathing suit!

So far, so good, I drink coffee almost black, very little 2% milk, so hopefully it's ok, today I only drank 1/2 a cup. I must say today was hard, veggies and soup, not fun. At least tomorrow i can add some fruits.
Does anyone know how long you can do this diet for? it says 1 weeks and 2 weeks off. Has anyone done it 2 weeks straight or longer?
Thank you all for the coffee responces.

gtbehnke, I know what you mean about not feeling good about yourself but it sounds like you are doing something about it now!...and wow a bathing suit! I have not put oneof those on in many many years and most likely won't until I finish and lose another 20-30.
Was really depressed this morning I weighed myself and put a pound back on but what should I expect when I have been eating poorly for the past week. Back on track today though
Aple some on this forum do two weeks in a row but I found that one week on two off I tended to have better results. but you have to eat sensibly on your off weeks...don't go wild for pizza and beer LOL

1st day went well---had 1 cup green T, peach for breakfast , soup for lunch then walked 40 mins. outside a plum as a mid day snack and soup for dinner with a salad.
Today for beakfast again green T, clery/carrots as early a.m. snack, plan on soup for lunch and walk (weather permitting), recruitted a group to go spinning with me tonight (40 mins.) and then soup/salad for dinner (I hope) Is it manditory that you keep the days in order of this diet? I work 2 jobs 1 every day and 2 3 x's a week I am at both. I dont want to deprive my husband with soup/salad every day Im off. Though he's very supportive! Look out day 2 I'm coming!
Offline
I would recommend that you do the days in order, and I am sure your husband will understand. Give him simple meals he can prepare himself or make up some mock "tv dinners" that he can cook himself?

BIG step for me (Im a bartender) Good luck all teh new-bee's and everyone else good job so far! Keep it up! May try 1 more week. As I still have cabbage left over and plenty of veggies. Not waying myself till the end!

Does any one have the recipe for the mashed cauliflower?
Offline
Hi Husky,
I have made it twice now and both times I have tried something different
Just keep in mind these are not potatoes even though they taste soooo good. Steam the cauliflower until soft and tender. then I used my beaters some molly mcbutter and a little of the water from steaming and beat them until smooth. they came out a bit runny but tasting very good. The next time I put the cooked cauliflower in my blender with a little molly mcbutter and a tablespoon ricotta cheese when it would not blend I used just a little non fat milk to make it go. I had already dumped out my water from steaming. Both ways tasted great
I think you really have to experiment with it
