+25 pounds need diet buddies 9-30-07

Well I need to get back on track, since the forum was up and down I really let myself get unfocused and kept telling myself I could have this slice of pizza or that glass of wine and now I have gained a pound back.

At this rate I am not going to reach my goal of 20 pounds by thanksgiving.  I would love some great buddies!

Some days it seems all I do is obsess about what food I am going to eat that day, and I do great until dinner and after dinner snack..anyone else like this??

I know exactly what you mean when you say you lose focus. But I'd love to be your buddy though. I am starting tomorrow, for the first time and am rather interested to see how it goes.

Sounds great to me; we can keep eachother company.  I need to start on Sunday because I will not be able to bring my soup to work the next few days....who knows maybe I will be inspired and start on Saturday LOL

~laugh~ "Just seven days" she starts chanting slowly.

My thoughts are just as soon as possible. I want to get it over and done with. One good though is that I love soup (all kinds) and veg and fruit are my best. Have you done this before?

yes I have done it before and I have also started it so many times not to finish that it just makes me laugh.

So I will start on Sunday this week.  It really does help to post here often to keep you focused or at least it does me anyway.

Last spring/summer I lost 30+ pounds only to put it back on this past winter.  So I started back to healther eating and csd in Aug and have lost only 13 pounds but I have not always eaten like I should. 

My next goal is 10 pounds for the month of October!

Good luck with losing the weight.

My goal is to be down 10 kilograms by Nov. 2nd. I have already dropped 8kilograms in the last three weeks and am hoping that the CSD will help push it even father. I pray it will.

I am also planning on starting excerising and toning next to help boost the whole program. Do you have any suggestions on how to further increase and push the weight loss?

I plan on exercise/tonning starting sunday along with the diet, that is something I have not done since starting in Aug.

I like doing cardio & wieghts but with my schedule I am going to try some resistance training with bands in my office during a lunch break...so a total of 20-40 min depending on the day.

We will see what happens LOL

I'm not going to lie, I'm extremely nervous that I do something wrong and that I won't get the total loss that I need...

But yes, we'll see what happens. It's late here, just after ten, so finger's crossed for tomorrow, the time is dawning on me.

I have just checked that all my items are ready for tomorrow, maybe a huge batch of soup this evening. Got all my favourite fruits and veg. Do you know if butternut is okay to eat on the veg days? Moreover, do we have to eat beef? I struggle to eat it, when I know the amount of 'fat' in it is almost three times as much as chicken or ostrich?

Great job on being ready, also pack legal snack foods to carry with you it makes you feel like you can eat anytime you want (which you can)

On beef days I always eat chicken or fish since I don't eat red meat.  It always seems to work for me

Hi Husky...as far as butternut squash is concerned...nowhere does it say not to eat it...but...butternut squash is a winter squash and would be a starchy species.  Zuccinni or yellow summer squash would be a better choice ....if you did consume butternut or acorn or any other winter squash, I would refrain from any large all you can eat quantities.  If you can purchase spagetti squash, that would be kind of a low starch in between type.  Good luck.........

sounds like you're a real expert at this, can you eat any sort of beans as veg or is that cheating?? I'm on day three, got a bit of a headache but have jumped on the scales and 4 pounds lighter so more determind than ever now!

Day 1!!!

Well it's now late afternoon here and I feel that the day has gone quite well. I woke up and did my exercizing. I was going to go for a walk, but it's pouring down with rain here, so  I have opted to stay in bed this evening.

Started the morning off with a naartjie and strawberry salad and some tea and that kept me going for about 5 or so hours without any cravings for food. Come lunch time I could barely wait to eat some soup, the smell the night before was wonderful. But to my dismay the soup wasn't as nice as I expected it to be smiley-sad But it was good none the less and it really filled me up. Other than that, I snacked on another naartjie when I was bored instead of turning to normal junk food and tonight for dinner, I'm going to have a fruit salad or a smoothie and some soup. My office is on the same property as my home, so there isn't much need for me to carry any "snacks" with me.

I am really enjoying this day and haven't had any problems with the diet although I finding that I am carrying more liquids than normal and need to go to the bathroom far more often than usual. Is that right? I do feel far more energized and human today than before though.

Looking forward to the veg tomorrow. I think I might just take up a few of the suggestions and make a stir fry of some sorts. Do I need to have the soup for both a dinner and a lunch or just once a day? And does anyone have anymore ideas on how to have the vegetables?

I hope your days, respectively, have been going well. Feeling lighter and better already and it's only been one day. Yay!

Hi bex.. .....I am not aware of using any beans except green string beans.  It is possible that vegetarians might subsitute beans for meat on day 5 and 6 in a limited amount...vegetarians have to do what they have to do if no meat is eaten...so beans or tofu or meat analogs would have to be used...but for the rest of us that utilize meat on meat days...I would say beans or legumes are a protein source and should be used as such.  I personally don't consider beans as vegetables...and really...we are supposed to eat low calorie, low glycemic  non-starchy type veggies.......hope this helps, this is just my opinion, perhaps others will post with differing info.  Anyway, good luck to you. smiley-smile

Hello Husky:).............You do not have to eat the soup for lunch and dinner, except, I would say, on banana day..because bananas and milk is all that is allowed on day 4 other than the soup.  Actually on banana day I drink a shake for breakfast and lunch, so I only have soup for dinner.  Far as I know, soup once a day is required....but...the more soup you eat, the more you lose.

Hey Brooksidelady!

Thanks for the tips on the soup. I usually love soup, but I've just had my second bowl and I am not to sure if it's something I can do often through the day. One is a lot at the moment. Funny how things change. What is the actual portion of soup that one should be having though?

Moreover, is it really true the more soup you eat, the more you lose. I have read many sites where they say this is not true and that the cabbage doesn't really have any fat burning qualities?

You know Husky....I think the soup is mainly a filler upper and keeps one from consuming too much of the other things allowed on the diet.  It also seems to be a diretic and most of the weight you lose the first time you are on this diet is water weight.  Losing the water weight means losing the bloat most of us has, and therefore we feel better... and this gives us the will to carry on.  I personally love the soup...I make a 6 qt pot to nearly the top and eat it up in about 3 days.  I like to use bay leaves( must be removed at end of cooking soup), about a TBL of curry powder, and 1 hot pepper in mine along with the dry onion soup mix.  After trying many different recipes....this one is the most to my liking. I myself think that if you like the soup...you eat alot of it (like me), if you don't...well...one bowl is enough.  I eat 2 bowls at a time...probably close to a good 2 or even 3C each.  I have not heard of any measuring of the portions one should eat...but really, you know what a portion of soup is...use a bowl used when your not dieting....like when your eating other types of soup...common sense works here.................

Hello! I am a first timer on the CSD, and I am currently in day 3, but I have been feeling rather weak, and not that energized. I have been eating as much soup and fruits and veggies as I can, but I still have this sort of grogginess. Does anyone have any pointers or tips on certain foods that might energize you more than others? Thanks so much!

Hi laftermed...and welcome:).  I am sure you will pick up tomorrow...banana day.  You are allowed UP TO 8 bananas and all the skim milk you care to drink.  Make up some banana shakes with the milk and bananas.  An easy shake is to take 2 or 3 bananas(I use medium size), a cup of milk, 6-8 ice cubes and a tsp of vanilla, pkt of splenda....put in the blender... whirl for a bit till smooth.  Have a couple of these tomorrow...it should help perk you up.  I think alot of people feel like you do in the beginning...but it should pass.  Day 5 and 6 are protein days which are nice to look forward to.  Good luck to you!

sorry so late to respond~~ had a 13 hour day at work whew!

Bex Stick to green beans and leave the rest to moderation on an off week other beans are considered Legumes and not for this diet..you will be glad you did


Husky you are doing great for day one, you will feel bloated but it does really go away LOL.  As for the soup you will have to experiment with flavors and spices, I like chillis to heat mine up others like curry it is very individua...if you need some ideas just email me on this site and I have about 10 different variations you can try either with a batch or individual bowls fu

Laftermed, What you feel will go away as your body detox's.  Just pamer yourself and sleep more if you can find the time...but remember exercise will give you energy LOL ~~it does but boy is it hard to get going..

Just a quick check in before I go off to work. No bloat today although my stomach is sore smiley-sad But I've dropped 1.8lbs so I guess that's good. Going to enjoy my veg today, not to sure what to have for breakfast though.
