I have read that you lose muscle mostly. Wouldn't excercise get your metabolism going while on this diet. I started today and have 8 kg to lose in six weeks when I am going on a 100km hike and dont want to carry it with me:rolleyes: Anyone in their 50's like me? It is so hard to shift weight now.

Hi Sally. Spain, now wouldn't that be nice except for all the temptations of drink and food. Walk, walk, walk and no carbs. It is disheartening to have this middle spread and so hard to shift. As for buying bathers.... I am going to Bali for two weeks Easter and cannot bring myself to even look at bathers. I think I will be wrapped in a sarong under an umbrella and big hat. Just keep at it, slap on the fake tan and think how good you look. I have decided that it is more important to lose the weight for health and self esteem reasons, though fitting into my clothes would be nice too! But I will never be trim taut and terrific again like my teenage daughter and her friends. Just a healthy and comfortable me.

A pound for each year. You could think of yourself as going backwards in age lol. To be ideal I have to lose 22pounds but am aiming for 17 in the next couple of months. Thank heavens for elastic waist bands.

Hi yall, I am 62 and weighted 180 at the start of week one. Last day which was yesterday I had lost 8 pounds. One pair of my sweat pants are trying to slide off my belly. My ideal weight is about 140 for my age and height so I have a way to go and plan to do this every other week and eat healthy without sugar in between till I get into the zone. I dont expect to be "pretty" either, but my cholesterol was up and I felt bad with all this extra weight dragging me down and killing all my energy. It is really coming back to me. Got out and did some yard work today for the first time in weeks and it actually felt good even tho I was panting like a freight train. I need to do something every day to keep burning the fat off my hide. I may not be slim and taut, saggy and baggy probably, but I will be healthier, cholesterol lower, blood pressure normal and have energy to keep on living...
Good luck.

Even though I am eating less I certainly feel better and have more energy - especially in the morning. Get weary by evening. Walking every 2nd day. Lost 1 & 1/2 kilo and on day 5. Figure must be adding muscle with the exercise and muscle weighs more than fat. Right! Starting yoga tomorrow - see if I can touch my toes again.
