Hello all you CSD friends,

Well after my cheating weekend I have gained another 1.5 pounds and that puts me over the ---I need to lose 30+ pounds now--- mark.

I am hoping that some of you would like to joing me staring today on the CSD.  I want to lose the weight by making small goals.  I have lost this weight before but like some it has crept back on over the coure of time.

My frist goal is to lose 10 pounds by September 1.  But I need help and a good buddy system.
Some say to weight in each day, others at the end of the seven days.  I have done both and can see the pro's and con's of each.  Diet buddies what are your thoughts?

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-06 10:28:43

Nancy, I can definitely join up with you.  With 70-80lbs to lose to be at a healthy weight, I can identify with you through all these struggles!  Last week was my first week on and I lost about 10lbs!  So exciting!  Am doing it again this week at least Mon-Friday and continue with some smart eating on days off.  I'll be here to support and encourage!  Just keep your chin up and together we can do it!!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-06 10:41:38

Great job on your loss last week, Even though I have done this diet before I have never had results like that.  The most I have had is 6 pounds in one week and that was follwong the diet to the letter and working out 45 min a day.  Guess I have a slow slow metabolism or just the fact I am close to the 1/2 century mark LOL either way that is great for you!

I am looking forward to the support and I know this is a tough road for all of us...it is almost like a full time job trying to lose weight!  Think we can make any money on this

So far today I have only had a little watermelon and strawberries they did not taste real good so I did not finish them.  I think I will run to the store and go get some fresher fruit.

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-06 11:51:33

Well it's about noon here in the middle of the country, I haven't had a thing yet.  But looking forward to going home for lunch and munching on some watermelon, grapes and cherries.  I originally did this diet in high school and lost around 50lbs over a year or so.  I think my best week was 14lbs back then.  The very first week always goes the best!  I just have to remember to eat smart in between weeks and to continue to eat smart once I have reached my goal!  I think, also, it is easier to see bigger numbers when (like me) you have SO much weight to lose!
I bet we could be millionaires if we could make money off of this!  It's a nice thought, huh!?!
It is so much easier when the fruits and veggies are tastier.  Hopefully you will find some great stuff.  Do you have a local farmer's market?  I find that the fruits and veggies I buy there are almost always so much more flavorful!
My goal this week is to hopefully incorporate more exercise.  Cross my fingers on that!
Rachael

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-06 12:45:15

Well it is getting close the mid day here too now.  I just went to the local market (I do have a farmers market but it is only open 1 day a week - darn it) and bought some grapes and oranges so I am muching on them now.  I am also going to start on my exeercise routine today at work, I am lucky I have a privvate office so I am locking the door and going to do some Pilates.  then in a week or so if that goes well I will move into more of a cardio/weight routine and alternate.

Lunch will be soup, then more fruit, dinner (have to make some more soup) and then fruit for munchies

The hard part for me is I have had wine with my eve meal for years and unfortunally that is one of the biggest things that put the weight back on me so I have to cut it out.

have you ever tried "Walden Farms" oriental sauce? it is calorie, sugar, fat free and great for stir fried veggies

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-06 14:06:02

HI.  No, I have never  heard of that sauce.  I may have to search for it the next time I go shopping!
For some reason, while I am on this diet, I seem to always go salt-crazy.  On my watermelon, on my tomatoes, even on my beef.  I'm not sure why, b/c normally I very rarely add salt to anything.  Do you know if this is common or just a weird me-thing? :)
For lunch I had a bowl full of grapes and cherries, very satisfying.  Saving that watermelon for dinner tonight, that will be tasty!
I bet the wine is difficult to give up.  Luckily I am a pretty heavy water drinker, so that hasn't been too difficult.  Last week I mixed up a few drinks with frozen fruit, berries and coconut water ( low in cal & so Yum!) added some pineapple juice on day 7, just a little - it is higher in cals. and ice for a great evening treat.  Lots of different mixture possibilities.  And SO great on day 4 with frozen bananas and skim milk.  I think it would be ok to add rum or vodka or a calorie-free alcohol to spice things up!
Rachael

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-06 14:20:06

I don't know about the salt thing I am like you and rarely put salt on my food but there are times when only potato chips will do

As for the achohol I did not know there was such a thing as calories free lol, but your body breaks down alcholol different from other sugars and it will use those calories frist and no what is stored in your fat cells that is why they say to avoid those drinks while dieting, it will actually make it 3 times as hard to lose weight.

Day 4 is a problem for me I am not a bannana fan and am lactose intolorent so I usually do day 3 one more time. and that seems to work.

Another way to spice up your soup though is when you are making it add a can of diced tomoatoes with chili's..the brand name that comes to mind most is "Ro-tel" it give it a hot kick rather than the bland taste.

Rachie - 2007-08-06 15:30:25

Nancy,
Yep, you're right, the alcohols do have colories.  It's carbs that they don't have any of!  Sorry.   I didnt know about them breaking down differently, so I will be staying away from that!  Luckily I didnt have anything last week.  Good luck with the no-wine.  All of these habits we've gotten into are so hard to break!

Well I have hit that mid-afternoon slump.  Not too tempted food-wise, but the energy is just gone.  Last week I did really well not having these major energy dips, so this is a little disappointing.

Back to some stuff in your original post, I usually weigh in everyday.  At the same time of day, I fluctuate A LOT during the course of a day, up to 6-8lbs usually.  So I only count my weight first thing in the morning to track my progress.  I think that as time goes by and the weight loss comes slower, it is better to weigh only once a week.  But for now it is encouraging to step on the scale each morning.

I am also doing the same as you, making smaller goals.  My first goal is a bit large at 22lbs, but already have  10 down, so that is great.  I hope to lose 12 more in the next 2-3 weeks.  My reward is a massage after meeting each goal.  I think the reward part is very important and also very important that it is non-food related, as I am trying SO hard to re-program my brain that food is not the only (or the best) reward. :)  Now THAT is hard - I have realized over the last year that I am very much an emotional eater.  Happy, sad, anything, food is my answer.  Well Not Anymore!!!
Best to ya!
Rachael

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-06 17:02:03

I know what you mean about mid-afternoon slumps but my usually hit me around 5pm, between then and bed time I am the most likely to stray off the diet.

I am not so much an emotional eater I eat to keep my hands busy even when at work-unless I am really concentrating on a project I will be snacking.  And like I said at night is my worst time...

It is hard to "re-program" and I think as I got older it is even harder you know the old saying you can't teach old dogs new tricks LOL but this one is going to try!

Even though today was fruit day I have snacked on some raw celery and carrots, they are in the soup and I did not want to fill up on grapes and oranges, those I will save for tonight.

btw what time zone are you in?  I am in pacific

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-07 07:49:41

I am in the Central Time Zone.  Well last night was really difficult, I raided the pantry, but in the end decided it wasn't worth it and sat down with my watermelon.  But man, I wanted something - anything!  How was it for you?

I have always thought it is ok to snack on the things in the soup, it doesnt seem like it would make a difference.  I think I ate tomatoes almost every day last week!

Cheers to one day down!  And we'll win over day #2 too!!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-07 09:10:09

Well finished day one and feel pretty good, got on the scale and did not lose anything but that is ok I usually don't until day 5 or 6..go figure

I am going to eat a few raw veggies for breakfast then plan on a bit of exercise during my lunch break

Rachie - 2007-08-07 11:37:41

I'm in the same boat today.  Got on the scale and didnt see a change.  But change will come...
I'm sure we will both see results soon!
I do feel results though, I wake up feeling healthier and lighter in spirit and in body.  SO that is just wonderful!
I'm looking fowrard to a great big salad for my lunch in about a half hour.  Can't wait!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-07 13:28:23

Well did not make my exercise break but did get a short walk in, now for some soup, I made a fresh batch last night and have not even tasted it yet.  then more raw veggies.  I was poking around my cubbard and found a bottle of oyster sauce it has only 9 cal per tbls and just a bit of sodium so I added a few tble spoons to my veggies last night what a difference.  I am sure those few calories will not hurt any thing

maybe I will put some on my baked potato tonight or some fat free itilain dressing

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-08 08:30:06

Well day two is gone and the start of day three!  Weighed mysefl this morning and still the same as I was Monday morning before I started.  Boy this is discouraging but I will hang in there.

Just a little watermelon for breakfast and then looking forward to the rest of the day...actually this is my favorite day and I will repeat it tormorrow since I can't have dariy and not a fan of banannas -- why try and eat food that just does not appeal to me?  Dieting is hard enough without having to self inflict foods you do not like.

How are the rest of you doing?

Nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-08 08:52:39

Hey.  I am still in that same boat.  Absolutely no change from Day 1.  I am very frustrated and currently drowning my sorrows in a deep cup of coffee - with creamer.  This is just too hard not to see results.  I will still stick it out through Friday at least.  I sure hope to see at least 2-3lbs drop this week.
I have not been to exercise, and I know if I get my butt to the gym, that will make a difference, but the excuses not to go just pile up.  I worked overtime yesterday and then it was too late to go, or so I told myself.  Anyhow, I think that today will be easier food wise, as I am not hungry at all and plan on having watermelon for lunch, veggies for dinner and some sort of smoothie for a snack tonight to look forward to.  It just might be harder in every other way!!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-08 09:21:46

your day plan is very similar to mine! yeah
I am having watermelon for breakfast, soup and veggies for lunch and the same for dinner maybe some fruit for dessert

tomorrow I am going ot repeat today since I don't do banana's or milk
nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-08 11:07:07

oh my gosh.  And now they have donuts up front.  Krispy Kremes!!  It's killing me.  I'm no where near them, yet I can still smell them in my nostrils.

I really look forward to the bananas and milk day.  It is almost a treat day for me!  At this point I'm wondering if I'm going to make it that far though... :(

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-08 12:07:21

Hang in there!  Eat some fruit and dream about that bananna smoothie tormorrow.

as for the exercise don't let that get to you I missed yesterday and will miss today but I will do my pilaties tomorrow

So how is that fruit tasting?

LOL
Nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-08 13:47:31

Thanks.  :)
Well I had the watermelon for lunch and it did taste good.  Have so far stayed away from those donuts.  I am feeling a bit better post-lunch.  We've gotta see some results eventually, right?
How are you doing?

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-08 14:12:52

my lunch is a lttile late today I am heating up my soup now, then I have some carrots and celery to snack on until it is time to go home for dinner.  I may even have a pickle or two

I am hoping on the morning of day 5 I will see something this not seeing any results after three days is getting a bit discourging but I won't give in

how are you doing now?
nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-09 07:57:01

For some reason yesterday afternoon when I clicked on the link to read any messages, it wouldn't load up!  Hopefully I wont encounter that problem today.
Yesterday was really tough, but I stuck it out and didnt cheat, as badly as I wanted to.  Still no change though.  I am hoping to wake up Saturday morning and see a miraculous 2-3lb loss.  We'll see.  I'm sticking it out till then though.
I haven't gotten to go grocery shopping, so I only have 2 frozen bananas in my house and a bit of skim milk.  So I will have those in some smoothies and will just eat light fruits and veggies today.
I'm feeling a bit ill today, a head cold, sinus infection or something like that, so hopefully food wont be much of a temptation.
How are you doing?  Seeing any results?

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-09 08:24:26

It is the start of day for and I will be doing day 3 over again.  I really can not do dariy unless I take a pill before each glass of milk so I have not bothered with dairy for almost 6 years now.  I can tolorate cheese fine just not milk, icecream etc.

Yesterday was not bad for me since I was so busy at work and when I got home it did not slow down.  Of course my tough time is in the evening watching a little tv but I muched on some dill pickles and drank some lemon water before bed.

I did get up and weigh myself this morning and still NO CHANGE boy this is hard.  But I remember from last year when I lost the weight I really did not see anythng until day 5, 6 or 7 so I am holding out for that.

I have been tracking my food intake on a site called fitday.com and I have been eating around 850 cal a day you would think this weight would have moved by now. With or without exercise

oh well enough of whining how is your day going so far?  I am glad we are supporting each other I would not have made it this far without you

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-09 10:04:44

Thanks Nancy, I definitely wouldn't have made it this far this week without you either!  Today is going alright.  I did cheat with a few crackers, but I had taken some medicine on an empty stomach and was actually heaving.  So I thought the crackers would do more help than harm.  I feel better now, still a little quezy, but better.
I hope your day is going well.  Looking forward to my frozen banana smoothie at lunch!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-09 10:57:51

Well don't worry about crackers as a life long allergy suffer I am familar with medications that can really upset the stomach

I just finished a bit of watermelon then some carrots and celery, it will be soup for lunch and not sure for dinner the last two nights I have stir fired some veggies and added some oyster sauce that only has 5 cal per tbl and I only use a few just to give it a bit of sweetness.  I don't think that would be enough for me to be at this stall with no weight loss.

Tomorrow will be much better!  Looking forward to a bit of protien

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-09 12:57:06

The stir fried veggies sound pretty good right about now.  Had a yummy banana smoothie for lunch and that was very satisfying.  I may have to try those veggies for dinner tonight though.
My stomach is feeling much better now, Thank goodness!!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-09 13:54:52

I took some cabbage, celery, green pepper, onion and a little carrot then put in a pan with pam and then put in a hot pan and stir until they are warmed and crisp then when they are done I put a few tablespoon of oyster sauce to coat and eat...it really is good.  It has all the soup ingredients and the oyster sauce I use is only 5 cal per tbl.  I might try some soy sauce next time.

I do miss putting it on some rice but that is ok it fills me up and satisfies me.

What are your plans for tomorrow?

nancy

I can't beleive I am still so obsessed with the food I want to eat I would think by now that would hace lessened

Rachie - 2007-08-09 14:11:34

That does sound good.  I went to the farmers market this morning and picked up my tomatoes for tomorrow.  So I am looking forward to that.  I will drop by the grocery after work to pick up the hamburger and maybe a few more veggies.
I always enjoy a good taco salad on days 5 & 6 with lots of lettuce & spinach, the hamburger meat with taco seasonings, browned with chopped green peppers & onions. Then on top, lots of cut up tomatoes, some salsa and I cheat a bit and add a sprinkling of low fat mozzerella cheese and a tablespoon of sour cream.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
I am with you on these silly food cravings.  All I can think about are tater tots! Cover in melted cheese!!  And I rarely ever eat tater tots!!  That is the weird part.
After I finish up this week, I'll be going off of it until Mon the 20th.  If I don't lose anything this week I think I will start a week on, week off thing.  I was hoping to do 12 days on, 2 days off, but if the 2nd week doesnt do anything, it might be better this way.  We'll see!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-09 14:27:31

what are your plans for tomorrow? That will be a tough day for me, it is tradition that we eat pizza on friday night and I need to find a subsitute that is the equilvant of comfort food with chicken and tomotoes

I can't beleive that I still center my day around what food I am going to eat I would have thought by now it would had lessened

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-09 15:56:17

No plans for tomorrow.  Will probably just rent a couple movies and make my taco salad.  It is SO much easier for me to stick to something at home than out and about.
Maybe you could find a way of stuffing the chicken with a tomato sauce.  That sounds tasty to me.  Maybe like a chicken marsala or something.
Good luck with tonight!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-09 16:41:30

I like the sound of taco salad but I will use turkey

I have only done the diet back to back once and only lost 1 pound that second week so I always skip a week inbetween

whoo hoo friday

Rachie - 2007-08-10 08:04:28

Finally!!  I got up this morning and weighed myself and had finally last almost 2lbs!  I am so glad that this week hasnt been for nothing!!  I am having a few crackers again this morning, as I've been nauseous most mornings, I think from taking vitamins on an empty stomach.
TGIF!!!  I am looking forward to my taco salad tonight.  I'll probably save it for dinner and stick to some lite fruits or veggies for lunch.  I never did have that 2nd banana smoothie yesterday, I may have it for lunch again.
Yes, I think I will defintely stick to one week on, one week off from now on!  How are you doing today?

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-10 08:36:44

Yes it is finally Friday and I took your advice about the taco salad.  I cooked up some ground turkey last night and brought all the fix'ins to make the salad at lunch after I eat my soup, then I will have a real big taco salad with at dinner tonight.

I did weigh myself and finally lost -- wow-- one pound.  This is still discourging reading all the posts and all those that have lost 8+ pounds in one week.  Maybe it is better this way slow and steady, but for all the stuff I am giving up I would think I would have lost more.   Congrats on your 2 pounds!

I am going to stick it out thorugh the weekend and see what Monday brings.  And like you I will wait another week before starting up again.  I remember from last year two weeks back to back was not the fastest way to lose it but if I stuck to a low calorie diet on my off week and just added a little bread or rice the weight did not come back and I was ready for the next week on without dreading it too much.

Do you have a stratigy for this weekend?

Rachie - 2007-08-10 09:30:44

Congrats!!  Every pound lost counts.
This weekend I dont plan on sticking to the diet, my original plan was for 12 days on, 2 days off, but now with deciding to go one week on, one week off, I still think I will end this week today.  And  start back up on the 20th.
I do, however, plan to stay low in calories.  I am out of a lot of groceries and dont get paid till next Wednesday, so I will mostly have to make due with what I already have, but I have enough to still make smart, low cal decisions.  I just need to remember to keep my portions small throughout my time off.  I'll induldge, but not go crazy.  That's the plan.  Besides, after being used to all these fruits and veggies for almost 2 weeks, I know if I go crazy I will just make myself miserably sick!  And I definitely dont want that!
I think that today will be a breeze.  Tonight will be tough, Friday nights are so hard to be good on!!  But I think I will go find some movies to rent or go over to a friends house - that knows not to tempt me - and get through this evening!
What are your weekend plans?

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-10 11:16:00

Well I wIlstick it out through Sunday night and have my offical Monday morning weigh in (which of course I will keep all up to date) then I will take a week off with you and eat senible, trying not to eat bread, pasta and rice and stick to veggies and fruit with a little protien.

You are right Friday nites are the worst for me! like I said that has been our comfort food night with pizza and wine but skipping it once will not kill me.

Saturday & Sunday will be a challenge as all weekends are without the stucture of work to go to it is hard to plan my meals when we are on the go so much.  My husband wants to go to an itlian resturant on Saturday night and it would be too easy to have their wonderful pasta so I am going to see if we can't just have a quiet night in and maybe go out on a weeknight next week.  I have in mind smoking some large shrimp on the grill with some steamed veggies yummi

What type of work do you do?
nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-10 13:48:25

I just got back from lunch and I LOVED my smoothie.  I know it's not the right day, but I only had one banana yesterday, so I figured it would be ok.  I added some cherries to it and it was SO tasty.  :P
I will do my official weigh in when I get up in the morning and hopefully that will give me encouragement to eat smart until the next go 'round.
Good luck with either convincing the hubby to stay in or to sticking with it if you go out.  I know that is a death toll for me - going out.  I feel like going out should be a treat, so I always tend to overdo it.  Shrimp and veggies on the barbe sound like a pretty good treat though!! :)
I am in advertising.  I do copywriting and proofing mostly, but it is a small company so we all do a little bit of everything.  What type of work do you do?

Rachie - 2007-08-10 15:55:16

Well I am out for the weekend now.  Best of luck to ya!!  You can do it!!  I'll let you know my results when I get back in on Monday.

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-10 17:05:37

Good luck in the morning for your weigh in! I will keep you posted on my Monday morning weigh in.

I am the gm for a consulting firm but I do a bit of everything from marketing, to sales, to phone and so on

nancy

Luckdrgn - 2007-08-11 03:03:34

:)Hi Nancy I am 38 and I would love to be your diet buddy if you like me will try your best to do atleast 10 situps 3 times daily and definately make the last set you do before bedtime I need to lose 40 pounds and I am not in a hurry to do that because I haven't had a buddy but with a buddy I will give it my all.

patch20 - 2007-08-11 04:44:54

Hi Guys

I have been on this diet for 3 days now, I read that the weight loss is only temporary is this true.

stephanie3477 - 2007-08-11 06:40:45

Hi Patch.  I did this diet about 3 weeks ago and lost 9 pounds.  Since then, I have been sticking to the south beach diet and lost another 6.  So, I don't think the weight loss is only temporary if you stick to a sensible eating plan.  But, if you go back to old bad eating habits-----then maybe so.

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-11 08:41:43

Lucky I would be more than happy to have another diet partner, after all this is a group effort and one of the hardest jobs we will do.  Changing a lifetime of poor eating habits!
what day are you on now?  Today is the begining of my day 6 and I am dowon 2.5 pounds.  Not as dramatic as others here but I would rather lose it slow and steady than fast.

Patch this diet does work and the weight will stay off...I did it last year and lost 30lbs in 4 months...BUT you have to keep eathing heatlhy, It was so easy for me to slowly slip back into old eating habits and then you gain a pound here a pound there and before I knew it I was back to where I started.  Never dreaming I would allow myself to let that happen after all the hard work last year.

Poor food choices are hard to break, after all the foods we love in the quantitys we ate are like old friends and giving them up for a new bunch of friends is so hard.  that is why this forum has helped me so much----The support to make better choices and new buddies to applaud when I do

whew was I long winded or what HA
nancy

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-12 09:36:51

Rachie, Luckdrgn & patch

Hey gals it is my day 7 and am feeling great!  I am still down 2.5 pounds for the week and am pretty happy with it.  I hope tomorrow another pound will fly off but if not that is ok.

I am going to continue to have a bit of fruit for breakfast, then soup for lunch today and dinner some wonderful stir fry veggies.  I found this great oyster sauce (not oyster flavored sauce) that only has 5 cal a tbl and that's it.

After today I will most likely still with my routine of watermelon for breakfast, soup for lunch, celery & carrots as snacks dipped in fat free itilain dressing then either a small protien or stir fired veggies for dinner.  Of course plenty of water!

How are you girls doing?
nancy

teresac - 2007-08-12 13:55:53

nancy
i just wanted to say i am so admiring of your assertiveness with a difficult post in another section.  you are so positive and supportive and of such a benefit to all who log on.
thank you!!!
teresa

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-12 19:47:43

Thank you Teresac!
That means a lot to me!  As we all struggle with our own "demons" losing weight any negitive feedback is counter productive.

Take tonight for instance for me...I had my hair colored yesterday and it was a disater..and I mean that. So today I had to spead a large sum of money getting it corrected sooo this just blew my entire mind set and I went out to dinner and split a bottle of wine with my husband and ate ....pasta....LOL but I kmow come tomorrow I will be back on track with my fruit, soup and veggies the rest of the week and have the support of "buddies" like you

I hope to see your post more often

nancy

Rachie - 2007-08-13 08:45:24

Nancy, Congrats on the 2.5lbs!!!  No worries about the pasta, you have the right attitude of getting right back on track.
I didnt do so well myself, have over-indulged all weekend.  My roommate and I went out Friday night and I kept my servings small, but didnt make great choices.
This coming Thursday I will be volunteering at a local charity event during which all the nicest restaurants in town come together to provide food during a silent auction and some other stuff for Big Brothers Big Sisters.  So I need to anticipate to make good decisions while I am there in the midst of all those wonderful temptations!!
I hope you are having a wonderful week off!

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-13 08:53:41

Hey Rachie, good to see you back after your weekend fun!   Well I weighed myself this morning and I was shocked to see I had dropped a few more pounds so my total loss for the week was 4.5 pounds whoo hoo

Not to worry about your upcomming event if you must eat just "sample", take a bit or two then move on..always eating a good choice with a bad?  sounds good anyway

Today I brough soup for lunch along with some watermelon and celery & carrots to munch on.  I am going to try (in theroy) to stick sorta to the csd for this week then next week follow it a bit closer.

For dinner I am going to have a bit of protien (shrimp) with a large green salad

do you all find you put loads of weight on when you come off csd.....how do you eat when you finish.....??

you all sounds like you've been doing really well

Emerald - 2007-08-13 10:13:45

Hi Nadsnightfox,

I did the csd and 3dd and gained it back plus one more pound and when I saw that, I freaked, so I'm back on the csd again.

nadsnightfox,

Last year when I did this diet and lost the 30lbs over 4 months I found that I really had to watch what I was eating and not just put a bunch of emptly calories in my mouth.  That does not mean I did not eat junk food I did but not much and in small amounts.

But over the couse of the winter those old habits came back and I packed back on the weight i lost so that is why I am here again...doing the csd and reading the much needed support!

Hang in there! before long we will be back to our oldselves LOL or at least I am going to try and be back by nov 1 that is my goal

Hello All,
I started CSD today for the first time.
I am munching on watermelon and grapes.
I have to go home and make the soup.
My goal is to loose 25-30 lbs by thanksgiving.
Hopefully I will loose some weight this week :)

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-13 14:25:34

Welcom aboard Chunnu!

Congradulations on starting the diet!  Get creative when making the soup, I always use extra onions and keep my veggies in big bit size pieces, but others put it in the blender.  I am sure you will find your own flair

My goal is to drop 30 pounds by Nov 1, I know I can do it since I have done it before.  The harder part is making those life changes to keep it off but with the support here we will all be stars

Thanks Nancy, for the encouragement.
I am planning to put onions, mint and all kinds of veggies and planning to add a small spoon of corn powder. I am from India, so probably I will give it an Indian touch:)
I hope I can reduce min 5 lbs the first week. Lets see how much both of us will loose by Nov 1st :)
Happy weight loss!!

Speaking of the soup, I don't think I made it right, I didn't have enough ingredients, and I was missing mushrooms, I put more of the cabbage instead.  I don't know if it will still work.

nancy_mrn - 2007-08-14 16:43:23

I never put mushrooms in my soup I just don't like them.  I also don't like chucks of cooked tomato or green pepper so I puree them (I like the taste)  So don't worry is your soup does not follow the receipe exact.  Make it taste good for yourself!

Hey you guys! I'm also wanting to join you guys =) I'm currently 5'6" and I weigh 175. I need to lose at least 25 lbs in order to be healthy, but I'm wanting to slim down my size before I grad. Perhaps...130lbs? So, I have about 45lbs to lose before december! Hopefully, I'll make it. Haha =P

And also...I've always wanted to know. How many servings does a normal cabbage soup recipe have? And how do you guys perserve it? Mine lasted about 3 days out in the kitchen, but I'm assuming you guys all keep it in a fridge for about a week? Or, does it last however long it takes you to eat it? Help!!

hey girls!
not on right now because it is my 40th birthday today! i did lose the 9 pounds i wanted to lose by this date, but i've eaten so many rich, heavy foods today and  no doubt tomorrow, that i think i gained it back!!  its amazing how your body feels so heavy, clogged and bloated when you go back to junk food.  i actually miss feeling how i did while on this diet.  i am going to be awAY until the 4th of sept. but will be starting again after that.  good luck to all of you in the meantime!!
maybe i'll hear from you again here in sept.  best of luck to you nancy and thanks for the support!!

fishyfishies, when I make my soup I put it into 2 quart containers then store in the fridge each day I take one out and bring to work to eat, sometimes I eat it all other days I am not as hungry.  The amt I make sometimes varies a bit but I usually have 4 or 5 containers and they last me form 3 to 5 days so there is mot real magic rule.

teresac, happy birthday! and we will miss you while you are gone but I will be here waiting to start another round with ya
