Hi there, really needing some motivation! I am on day 5 today---what a horrible day, beef and tomato! Had some chilli (2 bowls) 2 bowls of cabbage soup, and have to admit had an apple as well. I had to take something easily transportable to work.

Anyway, yesterday I weighed myself and have lost no weight. I'm really scared that I will have done all this for nothing.............

Not looking forward to tomorrow, beef and vegetable day. Am really craving sweet stuff, guess my body wants fruit. Any suggestions for b-fast? Can't face the thought of soup!
Thanks in advance

I cooked a hamburger patty and added it to my soup.  The meat soaked up all the broth and I have a lovely treat for breakfast.  For lunch I ate another burger with veggies and I used mustard.  I gave away the fries and took the burger off the bun.  For dinner I had an 1 1/2 thick steak cooked to perfection and a salad.

Re: My first Day!!!

HiNancy yeah tomorrow is my last day! Will let you the day after what (if any) I lost!

Bakerprune you have done so well! 9 pounds!

Nickldollar how did you manage 11.5?? Man, that is fantastic. I'm so envious, I know it might take me 2 months to lose that much.

Time2bethin -- good luck you can do it. (Can't believe I nearly have!)

My plan is to go back on csd on Sept. 16 so that I can get a week of it in before I have to go on a trip. In the meantime when I finish this round  after tomorrow I'll try the south beach diet. I want to lose at least 15 punds but preferably 20. Wish me luck!

This is my first day!  I have a bridesmaids dress to fit into in 3 weeks and am currently a size 14 and need to be a size 12!!  Do you think I can lose enough by Sept 22 to fit into this dress?

Re: My first Day!!!

Hey there everyone, I'm in NZ  so my posts are off kilter with yours. Today is my last day on csd and I feel great. I'm only going to weigh myself tomorrow so as soon as I know I will tell you. Today I couldn't face the brown rice so I did day 3 over again like I see some people have done before. Had fruit for b-fast, 2 bowls of cabbage soup for lunch and raw carrots. an apple and pineapple for snacks and am making a big stir fry (minus rice) for dinner. Gonna use some oyster sauce, Nancy!

Tomorrow Ij'm starting South Beach phase 1. Nancy, do you eat eggs every morning while on it? Also, I can't see why carrots would be bad for us. He says you can't have them to lessen your craving for sweets, but they definitely aren't fattening, and we surely don't need to lessen our cravings for sweets after being on csd? I'm thinking of having them anyway. Do you adhere to the absolutely no fruit as well? I think I could do that.
Talk to you tomorrow with my weigh-in!!!!

Re: My first Day!!!

Hi CSD Novice.
I too follow the SB diet.  The reason for avoiding carrots is not because they are fattening in terms of fat gram content.  They are very high in natural sugar which puts them high on the glycemic index causing insulin resistence.

Re: My first Day!!!

thank you stephanie for letting csd novice know about the reason for the carrots.

csd--I have eggs about once a week but for most mornings I do egg subsitute and some onion & green peper then a small glass of V-8.

This week so far my weight has gone up and down by 1.5 pounds and don't know why.  I did drink some wine on friday, Sat and then a slice of pizza on mon with beer....I think maybe that over did it LOL

anyway I am back to SB for another 1.5 weeks then plan on csd on sept 16 or 17 havn't decided which day to start on

Re: My first Day!!!

Well, my first day went great -- I was so tired of fruit by the end of the day.  It is really hard for me to eat the soup ... not my favorite.  Today is my second day and I am really having a hard time.  My favorites, peas and corn, are off limits.  All I have had today is raw carrots and celery.  I was going to go the cafeteria here at work for lunch and get some veggies, but they only have peas and corn.  I did not have time to get my soup to bring this morning because I was running late.  I am STARVING and someone that sits next to me went to McDonalds and all I can smell is french fries!!! I cannot WAIT for my Baked potato tonight!!

I do not drink milk, so for the skim milk, I read somewhere that you can have yogurt ... what kind of yogurt is best?

When eating the beef can you have any marinade or seasoning on it?

I need all the pointers I can get.

Re: My first Day!!!

It is really hard to stick to any diet if you are unprepared.  But you can do it. With the meat I believe you can have all the seasoning syou want but go easy on sugary marinads.

If you use yogurt on day 4 I would limit yourself to just a few I don't know what the nutritional break down is between that and skim milk,   maybe you can find out on nutritiondata.com?

good luck

Re: My first Day!!!

This is my first day as well.  I did this diet years ago but I don't think it had all the extra food it does now.  I am hoping to lose 10 lbs cause I am going to see my family in 2 weeks.  Does anyone know if when you eat the leafy vegetables you can use olive oil & lemon for dressing?  I think that is the only way I can eat the vegetables.  I don't like many cooked vegetables except peas and grren beans.  Also can you use artificial sweetners like sweet n low or Stevia (stevia is actually a plant that is sweet).

I hope I can get through this!  Any help is appreciated

Re: My first Day!!!

I would say the olive oil is a no no, lemon juice is good, apple cidar vinegar would be good

try making a stir fry with carrots, celery, onion and cabbage..sprinkle a bit of so sauce on it see if that helps you

Re: My first Day!!!

Well, I will be starting this diet tomorrow - Friday the 7th.  Just popped in here for some support.  I am 5'4" and 202lbs.  I recently was at 230 and lost down to 185 due to emotional stress from a divorce, however, now that things have calmed down, I've put 17 pounds back on.  Disgusting!  I was so proud before, and now my self confidence is waning again.

So any moral support, advice on how to stay on it or variations that might make it taste better would be highly appreciated!

Re: My first Day!!!

Thanks Nancy for the advice.  Well I made it through day one and to my surprise I got on the scale and dropped 2 lbs.  I think it helps that I exercised too!  Today is going to be hard but I am looking forward the the baked potato tonight!  I know this is something I cant do over and over.  I just want to jumpstart my weight loss.  My husband and I have a deal that if I loose 40 lbs, we will go to New Zealand or a Hawaiian cruise, my choice.  I think if you have something to shoot  for or to look forward to it helps.

Re: My first Day!!!

Congrats teetah on the 5 lbs.  Try making a banana shake, with skim milk, bananas ice and either a vanilla extract(I think that is allowed), just a few drops or a dash cinnimon.
I think you can use sweet n low but I use stevia which comes from a plant.  It's sweet like sugar but better for you.

Good luck!

Re: My first Day!!!

teetah Wonderful 5lbs Whoo Hoo that is the most I have done in one week and here you are after just a few days!

ipqhiz Great job on finishing day 1, sticking with diet and exercise is such a challenge.

LadyDancy, we are almost like comrades in the same divorce army LOL but we are strong

Yes I have done this diet with sucess, last spring/summer I lost 30lbs but then old habits and lack of exercise put back on 23pounds so I am back again determined to lost that and some more...my starting weight on Aug 6th 173 I am currently at 163.5 this am.  My goal is 140 by November.  I guess I am a lose loser I don't have those giant leaps like others here but that is ok I will take it any way I can get it.

This week I am doing south beach phase 1 and will continue for another week because of travel.  Really can't take the soup on the planes.  then on Sept 16 back to csd for a week.

Re: My first Day!!!

Hi again everyone

Nancy I told you I would let you know how I did and here it is: after my week on csd am down 5 pounds!!! Sorry I didn't post yesterday like promised but had a slight crisis which took up my time. Anyway, I'm pleased with my 5 pounds because I have never lost that much weight in one week before in my life. Plus I did not stick to the diet religously, so it could have been more if I had.

Meant to start the SB yesterday and did follow it up until dinner. Because of my crisis didn't get the grocery store in time so ended up having a frozen WW lasagna, which is ok but not what I wanted to do. And then this morning I was running late so no time for eggs so had WW cereal, which once again is ok but not in the plan!!!! Will follow it better after Sat night when I have the blow out party to go to. Remember I am in New Zealand so it is already Friday here.

Unfortunately we don't get substitute eggs here so I can only do real eggs everyday!! Wish there was an alternative for breakfast during the ph 1.  It's funny, while on csd I would have killed for an egg!! Am actually missing the soup in a weird way. Everytime I eat I feel uncomfortably full even tho I am not eating a lot at all!!! I am still in control of sugar cravings as well!! Yay! Now if the same could just be said for alcohol................ smiley-smile

Anyway, good luck every one and stick to it!! I am going back on csd on  the 16 Sept  and the way I feel right now I can't wait for round #2!!!!

Re: My first Day!!!

csd----That is wonderful 5 pounds is just awesome!  I will be joining you on the 16th.  I know what you mean about misisng the soup the first few days on sb felt really strange without my soup.  I have adjusted but I look back at my eating habits before and can't beleive I have gone almost a month without any rice, pasta or bread.   LOL now the alcohol is another story.

I had my wine last fri, sat and some mon. and it seems as if my weight loss has stalled again.  (did I tell you I went 9 days in a row without a loss?)  it looks like I might be holding that pattern again.  So I am going to try something new for me.

I have always had an excuse about not exercising because of time.  So tonight I am going to go walking before I ever get to my house after work, because once there I don't leave again.

My goal is to continue on with sb until the 16th and walk each night after work, I am going to start slow --- walking at a moderate speed for 2 miles or 30 min which ever comes first
wish me luck

I've heard of some people making scrambled eggs with 1 part egg and 1 part tofu and that they weren't bad.  The store by me just started selling egg whites in a container... how convenient.
