Re: Starting April 16...

Hi all April 16th starters and you Angellicdelight - how nice of you to take the time to address each of us individually smiley-clapping- Thankyou!

The clothes thing is a real wake up call isnt it, especially if you have some important dates coming up like I have..... I am really trying to focus on not wanting that awful feeling when you are traipsing around the shops looking for something in a large size 14 and everything is lumpy!smiley-huh

I have been taking this day hour by hour and whenever I doubt if I can do it I try to focus on that wonderful feeling of a size 12 dress slipping over my head, and the very real fact that a packet of crisps is NOT worth the feeling of failure when I wake in the morning. Now, I promise my weight isn't taking over my life and I'm not obsessed with losing weight (even though I sound like it!!) but I have have been faffing about over losing 2 stone during the past three years and I know I would feel so much better with it off!! As someone wrote before, I deserve to have a body I love and am proud of.

Anyway that's my little thought for today. Good luck everyone! Day 2 nearly over.....day 3 will be a breeze!!smiley-rolleyes Plan to cut my potato into segments, toss in garlic, herbs and chilli in a little olive oil (instead of butter) and bake in the oven....Yum Yum smiley-tongue

Re: Starting April 16...

Hiya Sinead!

Glad to hear you are still going well - stay strong!!

I too wouldn't class myself as obsessive about the weight loss, but I too have been moaning with the weight creeping on & having far too many choccy egs at Easter spurred me on to do something about it (I tell you it's quite a challenge as my daughter still has about 10 chocolate eggs in the cupboard!!) A true test of willpower!!

These last couple of days have been a little hard - I'm missing the caffeine & so have a headache!! However I have the feeling I am becoming a little mad - throughought the day I am constantly trying to alter my belt to see if I can get it onto the smaller hole next to the one I usually fasten my belt in!!!! We're talking about 25 times today & needless to say it isn't comfortable to do it with the amount of water I am drinking!!!! Is anyone else finding themselves doing silly things or is it just me?!

I'm not getting disheartened by it - I know I do have to see the week out to see the results, that's why I am determined not to step on those scales again til the end of the week!!!

Hi Veronica117 - fantastic to hear you are starting tomorrow - I know you'll do well, you too sound very determined like the rest of us!

I'm looking forward to allowing myself fruit tomorrow - todays been hard - except for the fab jacket potato, but once I'd eaten that I had nothing to look forward to other than soup (!!!)

Speak soon!

Thanks for te encouragement Kerry!!!  It was so nice of you to post alin for each of us here!!

Sinead - Great idea to try on the clothes!!   smiley-ohmy  It really is a reality check when the jeans are too tight and there is spill over the top!  smiley-surprise

I made it through ok today and I still have to eat my potato - saving for a big snack!!

I'm not jumping on those scales either until the end of the week! I don't want to feel like I'm failng if I don't see results right away!

Re: Starting April 16...

Afternoon April 16thers!!!smiley-hug

Just getting halfway through day3 and I have been finding it reasonably okay! With having both fruit and veg on offer it doesnt seen such a hard day(....so far anyway!!smiley-eek)

Tommorrow could be a different matter - I love bananas but having no other fruit to nibble on could be difficult. However, I plan to get through the day by taking regular small cups of soup through the day and trying all the differents recipes for bananas that have been posted in previous threads to add a bit of variety. Just think after tommorrow we are over halfway there and we can have MEAT!!!!!!smiley-tongue Yeah!!

I am feeling lighter and my skin and eyes are definitely brighter but I am going to leave my weigh in until Monday morning - looking forward to it!!

Am going out for a walk now  - am nearly afraid to say it for fear of having a certain other member of the CSD fraternity jumping on me for exercising!!smiley-ohmy But I feel it helps keep my metabolism up, prevents possible constipation and generally makes me feel better - and when I feel better about myself I don't nibble!!

Hang in there everybody - we all deserve to do well!!smiley-clapping

Re: Starting April 16...

Hiya there April 16th Gang!

Hope everyone's still going strong!

Well done Sinead - you seem to be having a good day - I'm struggling a bit today ... I really didn't fancy soup at all, but am feeling hungry & have eaten a lot of fruit this morning, so knew I had to have some soup! I am eating it in between writing here to take my mind off it a bit!!!

Feeling a bit tired & achey too - am in the midst of sorting out my house ready for putting it up for sale, so am shifting a lot of stuff about - have had no probs with lifting & shifting stuff 'til today really - aching back & legs!!! Think I'll go easy for the rest of the day!

Sinead - you mentioned lots of ideas for bananas - I have only found the one where it was suggested about freezing slices of banana for an hour & then blending with the milk - do you have any others to share to excite my banana day for me tomorrow?! I do love bananas & milk, but some variation of how to have them would be good!

Hows things for you today Barb?! I'm sure you are still going strong & as motivated as ever!! Hope you enjoyed your fruit this morning!

I wish everyone well today & continued success - stay strong not many more days to go & it must get easier with a meat allowance after tomorrow!

Re: Starting April 16...

Kerry I plan to go through the threads tommorrow for banana recipes  so I will post again tomorrow, however, one I did enjoy was banana sprinkled with some cinnamon and baked in the oven - eat with a spoon - absolutely yummy! - However I did take a tip from the new CSD and had this with a spoon of low fat yoghurt - a real treat!!

Keep it up everyone

Re: Starting April 16...

That idea for bananas sounds great sinead - think I will try the oven option for one as a bit of excitement for my day!!

Also gonna do the freezing & blending with milk one too -

Other than mixing it in the soup I can't actually think of any other ideas (not that I'll be trying that one!) but if you find any more good ideas let me know!!

Re: Starting April 16...

Hey everyone,  it's Barb...I'm here and alive and still on the diet.  My 3 year old son had the flu ALL day yesterday.  All he had to eat yesterday was one saltine cracker, plus liquids,  poor guy just couldn't keep anything down.  Talk about a crash diet!!!  Thankfully, he is MUCH better today.  Now about me...I barely ate yesterday because of tending to his needs, but I am still on the diet with absolutely NO cheating.  I am down 1 1/2 pounds (yes, I include even the 1/2's).  Again, I really thought I'd be losing more, especially reading how someone lost 8 at the end of the diet.  So glad to hear everyone is doing good.

Sinead-tell me more about the banana in the oven, sounds really good, what temp. and how long??

Veronica117-glad to hear you're sticking with it and getting through the day, keep going!!

Kerry-hope you are doing good, you're almost there so stay strong too and keep on posting.

Take care all.  Now, go eat a banana!!!

Re: Starting April 16...

Hello guys - hope you are doing ok!!!

Well the banana day is going well - really pleased that I bought a really great bunch of banana's - they're really sweet - I'm usually really unlucky at picking out banana's in the supermarket, they're often so bruised & some taste a little bland, but these are heavenly ... or maybe it's just the fact that they are tasting so good compared to the soup!!!!!

& I have managed to get my belt comfortabley down to the next smallest fastening too, so this must be working - yey!!!!

Hope everyone else is managing ok, it's a little quiet on the message front, so I am pressuming you must be all so busy with your banana's & milk!

Barb - get in touch soon to let us know how you're doing, not heard from you for a while buddy!!

I'll be glad to move onto day 5 tomorrow also. Kerry- atleast you're halfway through day 4. Great job!!  I've already started defrosting meat for tomorrow!!  I'm really looking forward to it.  I've got to go buy some tomatoes though.

Sinead-I did end up finding a recipe for the baked bananas.  I'm going to try it later in the day.  I've also got a couple of them freezing right now hopefully for a nice smoothie later.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Re: Starting April 16...

I noticed that too!! Was just thinking of all the people that come on the site mid afternoon for a little bit of support to get through the rest of the day!!smiley-hug

Kerry, I have been going back through the other threads looking for all those recipes for bananas that I'm sure I remember reading months ago but cannot find them!!!smiley-blush

Today I am getting through by:
1. frying sliced bananas (with a low fat spray!!) until they are crispy.
2. sprinkle with cinnamon, wrap in foil and bake for 15 minutes
I have to confess to adding a spoonful of low fat yoghurt - it really is very tasty and helps to get through a hard day.

Tomorrow is definitely easier - a huge bowl of beanless spicy chilli - YUM YUM!!smiley-rolleyes

Keep it up people - we are doing so well

Re: Starting April 16...

Hi all!

Hows it going?!

Veronica117 - congrats on the weight loss, you're doing really well!! I'm determined not to get on those scales until Monday morning to see what my overall loss is - I know I've gone down a notch on my belt from the beginning of the week so it's a good sign!!

Katl2407 - you really have the flatmates from hell!!!!! First Pimms & now chocolate - what next, a variety bucket from kfc??!!! Maybe an idea to change the locks next time they go out - either that or tell them to move out for a week & some of us fellow cabbage soup dieters will come & move in for the week - we'll have soup parties - yey!!!!!

I've really had a pretty unproductive week as I've been going to bed earlier so I'm not tempted to nibble on something or lay my hands on some alcohol - I'm a bit of a nightowl you see, plus added to the fact I had such a headache the first couple of days, I feel like I've hardly done any of the urgent things I needed to do, so good on you for being so productive Katl2407 - I'm not feeling guilty about my long list of jobs still to do, if I've lost some weight this week it's been worth it!!

Barb - hope you're ok hun & hope your son is starting to feel better!

Hang in there everyone, only 3 days left to go & we can have meet tomorrow & Saturday - woo hoo!!!!

I'm gonna opt for chicken I think - although I don't know how much chicken 10-120z is - here's me dreaming it's loads, but knowing my luck when I weigh it out it will be half a chicken breast or something ridiculous!!!

Speak soon

Re: Starting April 16...

Meat Meat Meat Day!!!!!!!

I remember when I was pregnant and went through different phases of craving fish, fruit, potatoes and meat ( I even loved the smell of the butchers!!). The cravings are supposed to be a result of what your body is lacking, so I must be low in iron. Like yourself Kat I don't normally eat a lot of meat, but today I am soooooo looking forward to my chilli:)smiley-happy

Thank goodness we got through yesterday. It was hard in a way to add variety to the bananas, but at the same time a real treat to sit down last night to baked banana and cinnamon with yoghurt.

I feel really well today. I went out last night to try and do a 30 minutes power walk and ended up doing over an hour because I was on a high once I started to walk. This is soooo great as my normal experience of a low fat/low calorie diet is feeling lighted headed and wobbly after a couple of days and giving up. By day 4 the soup is NOT so appealing but at least I know I can take as much of it as I want when I feel hungry without it sabotaging my weightloss.smiley-clapping

Anyway we have done so well, we can certainly hang in there for another 3 days!!smiley-hug

Barb - I hope you got through banana day ok!

Kat and Debbie - At least with small children to look after I was able to control what food came into the house this week and get out for a walk when the last of the Easter eggs was being eaten BUT if friends came round with chocolate or pastries:o
I don't think I would have been strong enough!!! I admire your determination and strength girls smiley-clapping

Kerry - i havent a clue how much 10 - 12 ozs is either - I was hoping it was lots!!!

Veronica - hang in there- by the middle of day 2 I was wondering how I was going to complete the week but here we are at day 5, feeling wonderful and I have no doubts I will see day 7!! So stay busy to keep your mind off the days and good luck!!

Sinead

Re: Starting April 16...

Hey everyone!  Wow, I can't believe a lot of us are on Day 5.  Banana day was ok for me.  My son was still quite sick so I really focused on him and only ate 6 bananas, but drank much milk.  By the way, he is back to basically normal today.  Thanks for asking about him, that was very nice.  It's hard to see a 3 yr. old so sick and there's not much we can do.

Ok, question...I really only had about 5-7 pounds to lose and honestly I'm a bit frustrated because I've only lost 2 lbs., now I'm really glad about that, but I feel like I'm starving myself for nothing.  I really thought I'd be losing more by now...any thoughts?  Maybe I'm expecting too much.  Don't mean to complain too much.  I'm definately going to keep going and complete the week, can't believe only 3 days left!!!

Sounds like everyone is doing well, congrats to you all.  Keep it up!!!  Still need to buy my tomatoes, but chili is a good idea.  Isn't like one chicken breast about 4 ozs.  Don't hold me to it, I'm not sure either.  Hopefully I won't go overboard.

Talk to everyone later.  Barb

Re: Starting April 16...

I think 10-20 oz works out at 3-5 chicken breasts...?

For lunch I defrosted some chilli which my mum gave me, bless, and it had some kidney beans in it but they looked so yummy that I ate them anyway! oops!smiley-blink

Iv now lost 6lbs!! smiley-clapping Im so pleased! Especially as I substituted my bananas for a mix of fruit because I couldnt hack that many bananas! How are other peoples weight loss going? Barb - if you only had 7lbs to lose your body is going to fight to hold on to them more than when you have 15 like i did! The last ones are the hardest to get off so keep at it! How has everyone else done?

I know tonight Im going to give in and have a few vodkas in my cranberry juice smiley-unsure, as there are big drinking games at the flat tonight, although I plan to make them really really weak secretly and then act drunker than I am haha oh the joys of being a student!

Good luck everyone, we can see the end now!

Re: Starting April 16...

Barb, you have done fanatstically well to have stuck to CSD with a sick baby in the house. It's awful watching them being so sick and if it had been me I would definately caved in and used it as an excuse to 'eat normally!)

When you have a family to look after I think everything has to be running smoothly so you can focus on yourself and good eating habits and have time to get some exercise.....and we all know family life does NOT run smoothly!!

Please don't get discouraged now. Hang in for the next three days and now that the wee man is better you might get the chance to get out for a walk in the evening - I really think this will help move another couple of pounds.... and keep glugging plenty of water (but not within an hour of walking or like me you will be in agony halfway round your route!!!!)

Keep it going, I really feel you will see a big difference by Day 8 morning!!
